GRANTS & PROPOSALS
Grants, proposals, responses to a request for proposal (RFP) and requests for qualifications (RFQ) are difficult to define because they are very specific to the client.
TYPES OF GRANTS & PROPOSALS
Grants/Proposals are typically initiated for several reasons:
1. GOVERNMENT SPECIFIC-You have a very particular government based project that you want to respond to. The project has a number associated with it and specific instructions for responding to the project have been provided.
2. PRIVATE SPECIFIC-You have a very particular private project that you want to respond to. There are instructions for responding that may or may not be somewhat vague/broad.
3. UNSOLICITED-You want to "go after" a project based on an idea or concept that you have. You need to create a proposal based on what you perceive to be the needs of the proposal recipient. You are not responding to a request, you are creating an opportunity in the hopes that the recipient will be interested.
4. BASIC-You want to provide a simple 1-2 page document to recipients providing information about your company and what you are proposing/requesting. For example, you may want a simple document to solicit other companies for
funding.
